Do you believe that Jesus is the only son of God, born of the Virgin Mary? Do you believe that he was born in a manger, a smelling dirty feeding trough for animals? Do you think where the creator of the universe chose to be born is justified? His first home on earth was in a manger, lying helplessly inside a smelling feeding trough. His first visitors on earth were the dirty-smelling shepherds who were regarded by many as the poorest in the society. They were the first to learn about the birth of my Lord, by an angel.
What do we learn from this? This is humility personified. My Lord, as the creator of the universe, would have chosen to be born in a royal palace made of gold, but he chose the feeding trough as his first contact with the world. We are being reminded here that no matter what you have, humble yourself as Jesus did. Also, we can see that his first visitors were the smelling shepherds. This means that My Lord came for the salvation of all. He does not discriminate. So, both the rich and the poor are his children. You can only be saved by accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. In John 14:6 NIV, Jesus made us understand that he is the truth, the way, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through him. And in Romans 8:1 NIV, those who have accepted Jesus will not be condemned. So, my brethren, let us ponder on the merits of being in Christ Jesus. A life without Jesus is like a house without a foundation and a tree without roots. You know that the foundation holds the house and the roots are the life of the tree through which it gets its nourishment. Jesus is our nourishment for eternal life and whoever does not believe in him will not see the Father. May my Lord give us the grace to accept him as our personal Lord and Savior. Amen
